Day Tripping: West Asheville, NC
An easy day trip from East Fork Ranch is West Asheville. This mostly residential neighborhood is just west of downtown and where lots of the Asheville residents call home. Once known as “Worst Asheville”, the last 10 years has brought lots of revitalization to the neighborhood as young professionals, retiree’s, and families alike continue to buy houses in the area to fix up and call home.
Haywood Road, the main drag through West Asheville, is 3+ miles long from the Patton Ave intersection to Ridgelawn Ave intersection (also known as Beechum’s Curve). This flat and very walkable street is dotted with some of Asheville’s best coffee houses, restaurants, shops and places to play. Want to know where the locals hang out, this is the area to check out.

Getting To West Asheville
There are a couple routes. The fastest route from East Fork Ranch is taking interstate 40 East to exit 44. If you want to take a scenic route we suggest hoping on the Blue Ridge Park and head North. You will get off the BRP near mile marker 394. Look for the signs to The North Carolina Arboretum. This route take you to 191 (Brevard Road). Take a left on Brevard Rd. and go approximately 5 miles. Brevard Rd will intersect with Haywood Road in the heart of West Asheville (look for Biscuit Head on the corner).
