Fall is one of the most popular times to visit the mountains of Western North Carolina. Scenic Drives On The Blue Ridge Parkway
There’s never a bad time of the year to get on the Blue Ridge Parkway, but fall is extra special with the leaves. Pack a picnic and make it a full day. There are 46 miles of parkway in Haywood County alone. From East Fork Ranch the Blue Ridge Parkway can be accessed using 276 and is only short 20 minute drive to the entrance. You will enter at mile marker 412. Once your on the parkway you can either head North towards Asheville or South towards the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Each direction will offer some great overlooks. Don’t forget sunrise can be as equally amazing as sunset, which is a very popular time to be on the parkway. Canton Labor Day Festival : September 3-4 : Downtown Canton :
This year is big for Canton’s Labor Day celebration. The festival includes performance by the very popular blue grass/new grass band Yonder Mountain String Band. Church Street Art And Craft Show : October 8 : Downtown Waynesville

Apple Harvest Festival : October 15 : Downtown Waynesville

Maggie Valley Arts and Craft Show : October 15-16 : Maggie Valley
