Nothing gets you in the holiday spirit like winter in the mountains. Canton, Clyde, Downtown Waynesville and Maggie Valley all have seasonal events in December that will definitely put a little holiday joy in your families vacation. To help guests at East Fork Ranch, we’ve put together a list of some our favorite holiday celebrations in Haywood County Holiday Celebrations.
Holiday Celebrations In Downtown Waynesville, NC
December 5 – Waynesville Christmas Parade “Christmas Past, Christmas Present”
Route starts at First Presbyterian Church at the corner of Walnut and Main St and then proceeds south ending at Bogarts. 5pm
December 10 – “A NIGHT Before CHRISTMAS”
A Holiday Tradition in Downtown Waynesville. Live music, caroling, Bethlehem Market Place, a live nativity, old-fashioned wagon rides, Santa, luminaries line the street. Shops, galleries & restaurants remain open. This is one of our favorite events! 6-9pm.
December 13-24 – TWELVE DAYS of CHRISTMAS

December 12-18 – (Various Days & Times) – The Best Christmas Pageant Ever at HART Theater.
Holiday Celebrations In Canton, NC
December 1 – Christmas Parade in Downtown Canton, NC. 5pm
Holiday Celebrations At Lake Junaluska, NC
December 2 – December 3 – Balsam Range Art of Music Festival
This two day musical event will celebrate the diverse art of music. Each evening will include a concert featuring some of the top nationally touring artists in the field of Bluegrass and Acoustic music.
December 9 – December 11 – Appalachian Christmas at Lake Junaluska
Featuring these following events over the course of a weekend. Please visit the Lake Junaluska website for more information and full schedule of events.
- Handel’s Messiah, featuring the Lake Junaluska Singers and regional orchestra
- Classic Sounds of Christmas, a concert by The Lake Junaluska Singers
- Appalachian Christmas Craft Show showcasing dozens of local artisans
- Matinee concert by The Cockman Family, a local treasure
After you’ve had a chance to take in one of Haywood County Holiday Celebrations, there are still plenty of other winter activities waiting for you and your family.
