Whether your spending the holiday here or surprising your special one with an trip later in the year, here are 5 ways to say “I Love You” while spending Valentines Day in the mountains.
5 Ways to Spend Valentines Day In Asheville and Waynesville N.C.
1.) Relax, Cook A Locally Sourced Meal, And Just Enjoy The Views
East Fork Ranch is the perfect place to sit back, relax, and take it all in. There’s no shortage of great views. If the weathers right, have a fire out by the pond. If it’s a little cooler, don’t worry both accommodations come equipped with fireplaces. East Fork Ranch is also a great place to cook a home cooked meal and there’s no shortage of locally sourced ingredients in Haywood County. Be sure to grab some Sunburst Trout Farms, locally grown veggies, a dessert from Netties Bakery, fresh coffee from Panacea Coffee Company, and some locally crafted beer from one of the many Haywood County breweries. You can even get some locally crafted soda from the Waynesville Soda Jerks.
2.) Date Night In Downtown Waynesville
A romantic night out on the town is always a great choice. Downtown Waynesville, just 15 minutes from East Fork Ranch, is a beautiful little mountain town that even has a Main Street still. We recommend you start with stop at one of the breweries. Our favorites are Boojum and Frog Level Brewing Company. If beers not your thing, the Classic Wine Cellar offers some of the best wine options in the region. Dinner spots might include The Sweet Onion or Frogs Leap Public House both known for their upscale dinning and locally sourced ingredients. Looking for something a little more casual, then Bogarts or Tipping Point Tavern are great choices. After dinner be sure to check out a show or movie at HART, The Strand At 38, or one of the other music venues in town.
3.) Date Night In Downtown Asheville
Known for a thriving dining scene and night life it’s hard to go wrong in Downtown Asheville. Some of our favorite stops include beers at Wicked Weed Brewing or Green Man Brewing. Wine (and beers) at 5 Walunt Wine Bar. Dinner spots include Blue Dream Curry, Mela, Curate, Mayfels, Chestnut, PLANT, Nightbell, Limones or any of the 70+ restaurants in downtown. Be sure to make a reservation or be prepared to wait. For something sweet be sure to visit the French Broad Chocolate Lounge. (There will probably be a line out the door, but it’s worth the wait trust us!)
4.) Sunset Picnic At Max Patch
February can be tricky, but the mountains do get warm days in winter months. (In January we saw some afternoons in the 70’s) If your lucky to be here on one of those days, pack a picnic and take a short hike to one of the most scenic overlooks in Haywood County, Max Patch. Directions to Max Patch, NC!
5.) The Biltmore Estate
Any trip to the mountains has to include a visit to the Biltmore. Make it a full day and enjoy the full experience! Tour the home and the grounds, including the gardens and Antler Village. After a day of exploring be sure to visit the Biltmore Winery, grab a beer at Cedrics Tavern, and then a romantic dinner at one of the onsite restaurants like the Deerpark Restaurant or the Dining Room. Feeling super adventurous, book a horseback tour or rent a bike to explore the grounds even more.
